Gordon Lightfoot's Movie Roles

 HAIL HERO
Lightfoot contributed the title song and Wherefore And Why to this, Michael Douglas' first film from around 1970.  Lightfoot also wrote Sit Down Young Stranger and Don Quixote for this film, but they weren't used.

PAPERBACK HERO
Lightfoot did not have a role in this movie, but a re-mixed version of If You Could Read My Mind is prominent in this 1972 film's soundtrack, played in three parts during a pivotal scene near the end.

RENALDO AND CLARA
Lightfoot performed on Bob Dylan's Rolling Thunder Review when they played Maple Leaf Gardens in 1975.  Dylan filmed the entire tour, along with dramatic scenes away from the shows.  Lightfoot hosted a party, at which time he performed Dylan's Ballad In Plain D in an upstairs room and it made it into the film.

HARRY TRACY DESPERADO
Lightfoot co-starred opposite Bruce Dern in the movie Harry Tracy, Desperado, from 1981.  He also recorded the song, My Love For You, which played on the soundtrack, although no soundtrack album was ever released. It was released on VHS and in May 2003 appeared for the first time on DVD.
